- Prepare Pie Crust: Mix flour, sugar, and salt. Cut in butter until crumbly. Add ice water gradually until dough holds. Divide into two disks, wrap, and chill for 1 hour.
- Prepare Filling: In a bowl, toss sliced apples with sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, flour, and lemon juice.
- Assemble Pie: Roll out one dough disk, line the pie dish, fill with apple mixture, and dot with butter. Cover with second crust, seal edges, and cut small vents.
- Bake: Brush top with milk or egg wash. Bake at 190°C (375°F) for 50 minutes or until golden brown.
- Cool: Allow to cool for at least 2 hours before slicing.
Notes
For best results, mix tart and sweet apples for flavor balance.
Add a tablespoon of caramel sauce over apples for a richer taste.
