Ingredients
  

For the Crust (Shortcrust Pastry):
  • 1 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup cold unsalted butter cut into cubes
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 3 –4 tbsp cold water
For the Apple Filling:
  • 4 medium apples Granny Smith or Honeycrisp
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter melted
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp cinnamon optional
  • 2 tbsp apricot jam for glaze

Method

  2. Prepare the Crust:
  3. In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, and salt. Add cold butter cubes and rub until crumbly. Add cold water slowly and form a dough. Chill for 20 minutes.
  4. Roll Out:
  5. Roll the dough into a circle and place it in the tart pan. Trim extra edges.
  6. Preheat Oven:
  7. Set to 190°C (375°F).
  8. Prepare Apples:
  9. Peel and thinly slice the apples. Toss gently with lemon juice.
  10. Arrange:
  11. Layer the apple slices over the crust in a circular pattern. Brush melted butter over them and sprinkle sugar. Add cinnamon if you want.
  12. Bake:
  13. Bake for 35–40 minutes until apples are golden and edges are crisp.
  14. Glaze:
  15. Warm apricot jam and brush over the tart for a shiny finish.
  16. Serve:
  17. Cool slightly and serve warm.

Notes

💡Notes
For extra richness, add a thin layer of almond cream under the apples.
Use firm apples only — mushy apples break.
