Gulab jamun recipe

Soft fried dumplings soaked in sugar syrup. A classic Indian festive sweet.

Ingredients
  

1 cup (150 g) milk powder
1/4 cup (30 g) all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp (2 g) baking soda
2 tbsp (30 g) ghee
1/4 cup (60 ml) milk
Oil/ghee for frying
1.5 cups (300 g) sugar
1.5 cups (350 ml) water
2 cardamoms, crushed

Method
 

Boil sugar, water, and cardamom for 8 min → syrup.
    Mix milk powder, flour, baking soda, and ghee.
      Add milk gradually; form soft dough.
        Shape into smooth balls.
          Deep fry on low flame until golden brown.
            Soak in warm syrup 2 hrs.
